Class Description: Taking ideas from natural forms, basic blacksmithing skills will be taught, and a variety of projects will be completed. Have fun learning to forge leaves, vines, and tendrils, also learn to create various textures, and other natural forms. This is a good workshop to for beginners, or for those who want to hone there forging skills.
Instructor Bio: Jim has been blacksmithing for 30 years. He began blacksmithing while working for the National Park Service at Millbrook Village on a historic restoration. After 11 years he started his own blacksmith shop in Shawnee, PA and began selling his work through fine art and craft shows. He now specializes in various custom projects, from sculpture, gates, railings, fire place screens, to kitchen and bathroom fixtures. Jim has taught at Peters Valley Crafts School and the New England School of Metal Work. Jim is a juried member of the Pa Guild of Craftsmen, and received the Sterling Strauser award in 2004, from the COTA. His work can be seen on his web site.
