Class Description: This class will teach you how to make inexpensive and great looking pedestals to display your work. Learn how to make compact display stands that take up little room for storing but open up to display your art. These displays are made from inexpensive materials you can purchase from your craft or home centers. Bring your problems to class… we will help you to put them on a pedestal!
Instructor Bio: Jim Whitman attended the Art Students League and became an illustrator and designer. He then started a graphic design studio which he directed for 45years. During this time Jim started his woodworking interests as a hobby. He was inspired by seeing the nautical wood carvings at the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. He has been designing furniture as well as carving form the past 30 years. Jim served on the board of Peters Valley for 20 years. He is serving as the Wood Fellow and teaching at the Valley. Jim is the author of The Woodworker’s Studio Handbook, which was published in December 2011.
