Date: August 10 - 14, 2012 (5 Days)

Instructor: Peter Happny

Level: Advanced Beginner and Beyond

Class Description: Expand your horizons for making sculptural forms using blacksmithing techniques. We will forge solid, sheet and tubular material while learning simple techniques for making the transformation from two to three dimensions. The emphasis will be to let loose and step outside your comfort zone while exploring unorthodox methods and solutions. We will also discuss combining metal with glass, clay, textiles and other media as well as ways to present proposals, models, pricing, finishes and installation of work. Bring problem areas with you to work on along with your sense of humor. There are answers to be found.

Instructor Bio: Peter Happny has run a forging business for 41 years working in multiple architectural and sculptural styles. He has demonstrated blacksmithing throughout the US and in Europe. He has taught at many craft schools throughout the country and can be found most days grinding away or hammering at his forge in Portsmouth, NH.

Studio/Materials Fee: $125

A $30 Registration Fee will be added to your course total. This is a one-time annual fee for non-members. If you are a current member, this fee will be removed before credit card processing.
