Class Description: Students will learn the basic techniques needed to forge weld steel in both coal and propane forges. They will then apply those techniques in one or more projects of their choice. Techniques that will improve the students forging efficiency will also be presented. If you want to learn how to forge weld and apply the skill to various projects, this is the class for you.
Instructor Bio: Charles Orlando started forging steel as a farrier in 1978. He started taking blacksmithing classes in 1985 and has studied with many well-known blacksmiths, including Jim Wallace, Frank Turley, Nol Putnam, Francis Whitaker, Tom Joyce, Peter Happny, Bob Becker, and Dan Boone. A teacher for almost fifty years, from elementary school to graduate level courses, he brought his teaching skills with him to blacksmithing. He has been teaching beginning to advanced level blacksmithing at many schools and hands-on workshops since 1989.
