Class Description: This class will be a step by step adventure, covering everything from a simple snapshot to making creative artistic statements learning to use the cameras and applications developed for the iPhone and iPad. Through play and exploration you will discover, ever expanding possibilities of image making with the iPhone or iPad - a hand held camera and darkroom. Topics covered will include; learning to capture images using the iPhone/iPad camera by utilizing the focus and exposure settings, HDR and slow shutter speeds, learning processing and workflow for your images to maintain good color, resolution, depth and texture for printing. These tools, if used to potential, can be used to make creative artistic imagery or serve as a visual diary or field laboratory to explore all the possibilities in the image one wants to create.
The workshop will be a balance of introduction and demonstration of applications, discussion of resolution, management of image folder structure and preparation for print. We also be photographing beautiful Whidbey Island to acquire images for each student to work with in the classroom during the hands on training period and will spend a good deal of time on printing - a very important part of the photographic process. By the end of the workshop you will have new tools to pursue your creative and artistic ideas.
Instructor Bios:
Teri Lou Dantzler is a 'professional iPhone Photographer' with the creativity and insight that it takes to create artistic images with the iPhone as well as having years of experience with the more traditional digital cameras. Teri Lou has comes with a vast knowledge of relevant applications and how to use them in the most interesting ways. With a goal of wanting to inspire and motivate, and with a never-ending passion for the possibilities of the iPhone, Teri Lou continually desires to teach others what is possible.
Harry Sandler spent a good deal of time learning the technical aspects of photography using various alternative processes like Platinum, Gum and Gold over Platinum printing. Harry's involvement with the iPhone technology started three years ago and he has been teaching workshops and showing his prints in various locations around the United States. Mr. Sandler has had a career in entertainment away from the camera, serving in various roles over the years such as Film and Video Producer and Tour Management. In this respect, he has worked with some of entertainments most elite acts, like Barbara Streisand, John Mellencamp, Eagles, Billy Joel, Jewel, Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Nicks.
